Kingston Kayak Club 3rd at
This weekend saw the annual Canoe
Slalom Inter-clubs finals; 24 teams from around the country
competing in all divisions and categories. KKC Team:
First Day saw some good team performances with the Canadians teams putting in an excellent time to take 2nd place. Sunday saw more great performances. First Lee took the Division 3 Mens event with plenty of time to spare. Jamie then pulled his finger out and won the Division 2 event after a very dodgy first run. James put in 2 very good runs to win C1 2/3. Hannah lead from the start and won the K1W Prem event and finally Andy and Scott managed to improve on their first run by 7 seconds to take 2nd place. Excellent performances from everyone
pushed the club into 3rd place. |

Hull International, another success & KKC teams success ! Yet another successful Hull International Canoe Polo Challenge took place this weekend. The weekend could not have happened without a lot of help from many of the club members but a special mention should go to Joy and Geoff Davies, the Lowthorpe and Hamiton families who despite being effected by the recent flooding put in a lot of hard work in setting up and running the weekends events. The Kingston Kayak Club teams carry
on their success at their home competition. Kingston C
(Stu Norris, Jamie McTighe, John
Gardiner, Carl
Gledhill, Adam Geal, Sharon, Caroline Dowd & Matt Sergeant)
having never played before as a team they entered into the spirit of
the competition, working their way to the top of their league and
finishing and excellent 2nd in Division 4. Kingston A also played extremely well; after winning all their league games they faced the crossovers to take them through to the final, this proved to be a stumbling block. A very tight game against White Rose A ended in Kingston losing 1-0. Their final match would decide the 3rd/4th positions and they faced Meridian A. Some excellent goal keeping from Curly held Kingston off for some time but a strong shot from Scott was too much for him ending the game 2-1 to Kingston A and Kingston took 3rd place in Division 2 Thanks to all the club members for all their hard work, loud supporting and excellent polo! |

representation in the Women's classes. Claire Medina gained
3rd place in the U16 ladies class, Hannah Burgess 2nd in the U18
ladies class and not to be out done by her daughter Lesley Medina
put in an excellent performance to gain1st place in the Veteran K1
ladies class. |

Kingston Robins win Liverpool Class 2 This year it was decided that we would have 3 teams entered with a mixture of abilities:
All teams were
entered in Class 2 so it was inevitable that the teams would
meet. Firstly Aces and Tigers met, although Aces took the
lead Tigers quickly came back with some well worked goals to win
4-2. Tigers and Robins met late in the tournament in the
semi finals. The teams were evenly matched and both teams
played cautiously to finish normal time equal. They then had to
face extra time golden goal. Kingston Tigers had the first
chance, but with some frantic The Robins then played the final against Nomad; again playing cautiously they went a goal up and then played sensible polo. They pinned them into their half to win 1-0. Final positions were
- Kingston Robins 1st, Kingston Tigers 4th and Kingston Aces
10th. |

Want to join in the the
success As you can see; since the formation of Kingston A and Kingston B we've had some great successes in the world of Canoe Polo. Both teams have been promoted to the next division winning their respective leagues at the Play Offs. Both teams then went on to perform well at the National Club Championships. We now wish to know if anyone wishes to be included in the structure and possible have enough players to construct a C Team. Playing for a team requires commitment of both time and money. You will need to be able to commit to 8 Saturdays between September and April. Entries alone will cost around £110 for the year and as you progress you will need to invest in equipment. If you are interested in the structure, are a club member and would like to chat about what is involved then please contact myself: Andy Davies via email or speak to Duncan Moffatt or Leighton James on a club night. We look forward to hearing from you. |

National
Inter-Clubs Canoe
Polo Each team faced 4 games on the Saturday, followed by a further 4 games on the Sunday. Saturday saw both teams perform well with Kingston B finishing 2nd in their league and Kingston A won their league on goals difference. Kingston A showed their best performances on day 2, beating Viking C in extra time golden goal after pinning Viking into their half for much of the game. They then went on to play Dragon, a Div 1 team and beat them 4 - 3. Kingston B had an excellent run of games putting 7 goals pass each of the first 3 teams only stumbling when they met Viking C.
In the final
placings Kingston A finished 11th and Kingston B 19th;
excellent results for both teams. Full results can be

BCU National Divisional Playoffs This weekend saw the National playoffs being played at Prince's Quay for the first time. On Saturday Kingston B were in action playing for a position in National Division 3. They took the play offs by storm winning all their games to gain promotion. On the Sunday Kingston A played for a position in Division 2. Unfortunately they were missing their goal keeper so a reorganised and untried setup started off the day well. After beating 3 teams and drawing with one they finished the day in first place and again gained promotion to Division 2. Well done to both Kingston Teams for
an excellent performance. |

Kingston B played 21st October: Putting on an excellent performance, beating all their competition convincingly and not conceding a goal!!!! Kingston A played 28th October: Again putting on an excellent performance, winning 3 and drawing with Tynemouth. Looks like the club could have the
foundations of 2 excellent teams and good luck to them both. |

European Under 23 and Junior Championships. This weekend saw the Junior Championships being held at Holme Pierrepont and KKC was represented by Hannah Burgess competing in the Juniors (Under 18s) K1 Ladies class. Thursday - During Qualifications Hannah performed well to make it through to the Semi Finals Sunday - After a fantastic top section Hannah was 4 seconds up on the split but unfortunately on the penultimate gate Hannah rolled the boat incurring a 50 penalty and therefore didn't make it through to the final. Sunday night saw an excellent party !!! If you are interested in canoe slalom and competing at this level please speak to Hannah Burgess or Dan Rawding and they'll give you all the insight you need about the training and after parties.

Grand Opening of the Outdoor Pool The Grand opening of the pool went very well thanks to Trudi Johnson's organisation. Everyone seemed to have any excellent time. Crispin Rolfe (BBC Look North Presenter) showed great courage and determination to make it around the slalom course after very little canoeing experience; he added to the day, giving and excellent opening speech and making it all more memorable. A big thanks to everyone involved with the refurbishment project, planning the opening and everyone who came along. It was nice to see everyone together enjoying themselves. Lets get out there and use the pool!
